Explore Laguna Beach
March 29th, 2006

This is the view from Cliff Drive in Laguna Beach very close to Las Brisas. The fog was pretty thick but I managed to get a pretty clear shot. Can you see the guy on the rocks? There used to be a pier at this location until it was washed away by a storm in 1932. For more information on the History of Laguna Beach click here.

I have been enjoying your photos! This one really caught my eye though, because I was married here in 1991, at 7:30 in the morning. We chose that time for many reasons, chief among them because it was too early for the beachcombers in bikinis to get into our photographs (or ceremony.) At 7:00a.m. it looked like this; by 7:30 it was a beautiful September morning. Lovely, especially when a string quartet is playing above the beach!
We’re now living 500 miles north, so seeing this place is a special pleasure. Funny, I never realized some might be surprised to see fog on a California beach but of course that is not what one usually sees in pictures! As a local you must appreciate the winter fog sometimes, as it brings some relief from too many tourists and cars on the beaches and surrounding streets.
I’m visiting your photoblog regularly. Thank you for the photos. Nice to see our old haunts through fresh eyes.

Grant - yes it gets foggy here in Southern California and it rains too. It is actually raining now.
Linda - Thanks for the comment. I am glad you liked it.
