Port Theater
June 1st, 2006

This is the Port Theater in Corona del Mar. This theater has a nautical themed exterior due to its proximity to Newport Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. The theater has been a local landmark since it opened in 1950 but unfortunately the theater is closed and for sale.

Hopefully the new owner will open it as a movie theater again.

I’m sorry to hear that. I saw my first French movie here: Le Magnifique with Jean-Paul Belmondo. I just bought the DVD again (a great farce). You’d think they could keep these theaters open if they marketed them differently. Make the lobby a place to hang out, put in a coffee shop, some books, etc.

Luggi - People say that the parking was the problem for this theater. I wish they do open it again it is great theater.
