Here are some flowers in Laguna Beach. Are they planted by gardeners for the winter or are they there all year? This is Southern California so we never really know.

These are the hummingbird magnent flowers of the Aloe arborescens. This is a tropical succulent from Africa and the ones you photographed are years old. If you wait around, I am sure you’ll see hummingbirds here.

Those look like perennials, but not natives, so planted at one time and left to grow, it would seem.
