The Getty Villa
This is the Getty Villa in Malibu. Not Orange County but this is such a wonderful place to visit.
Sorry, I have been gone so long. I will try and post at least a couple of new pics per week.

This church is in Huntington Beach. It looks like it could have been an old barn or train station.

Cypress is located in North Orange County it is home to numerous business parks and celebrates 50 years of cityhood this year. This building reminds me of Japanese, Korean or Chinese temples with a 1960’s flair.

This is what horses use when they want to cross the street. This shot was taken close to Nellie Gail Ranch in Laguna Niguel. Horse crossings are not the only thing that make Nellie Gail Ranch unique. Nellie Gail Ranch is not as densely populated as other communities in the area. 1407 homes occupy an area of 1350 acres and most of the homes in have horse stables.
This area of South Orange County was formerly Rancho Niguel owned by Don Juan Avila under grant from the Mexican government in the 1800’s. It was later purchased by Lewis Moulton who worked for the nearby Irvine Ranch. The land was eventually subdivided in the early 1960’s. Ranching history is rich in this area and it makes sense that we have horse trails and open spaces but I’m sure they didn’t need crosswalks for horses back then.

This is Dana Point Harbor taken from the Overview Gazebo at the end of Blue Lantern Street.
A little history on Dana Point.
At the turn of the 19th century, Dana Point was the only major harbor between San Diego and Santa Barbara. Now the harbor sports a modern marina which is a popular spot for departure of boats offering whale watching cruises from November through March. The harbor also offers restaurant dining with a harbor view and gift shops for taking home gift souvenirs from your vacation. Guest slips, launch ramps, boat rentals, yacht instruction, fishing, windsurfing, jet skiing and diving charters are available there.
Founder Richard Henry Dana called this harbor, “The only romantic spot on the coast.” Dana landed here during the hide trading days of the 1830’s and described the charm of the steep cliff cove in his renowned book, TWO YEARS BEFORE THE MAST. In the days of the square rigged sailing ships, the rugged cove was known as BAHIA CAPISTRANO and was the major port between San Diego and Santa Barbara. It seemed only natural that this scenic cove was destined to become one of the most beautiful recreational harbors on the west coast.
That’s the end of my History lesson for the day(maybe even the month)
